Queen's College Preparatory School
Fearless learners. Warm community.
Description
Queen's College Preparatory School is an independent prep school for girls aged 4 to 11 on Portland Place in Marylebone, close to Mayfair and Regent Street. It opened in 2002 as the preparatory arm of Queen's College, whose origins date to 1848. Classes are small and the routines clear, so pupils build firm foundations in literacy, numeracy, science and the arts, with plenty of music, drama, sport and languages alongside. Pastoral care sits at the centre: form tutors and specialist staff know each child and work closely with parents.
The link to the Queen's College senior school gives girls a smooth path at 11+. Teaching is delivered by subject specialists working to carefully sequenced curricula, and trips make good use of central London's museums and cultural venues. The school belongs to IAPS and the Girls' Schools Association, and a recent ISI inspection highlighted a positive learning culture. Parents can expect honest communication, sensible homework and a balance between stretch and wellbeing. Girls leave with strong study habits, a love of learning and a grounded sense of self.
