Description
The University of Westminster traces its origins to 1838, when it began as the Royal Polytechnic Institution in central London. Its Marylebone campus at 35 Marylebone Road has been a core site since the late 1960s and officially opened in 1970 under the Polytechnic of Central London name. Arrive from Baker Street or Marylebone High Street and you meet a striking architecture complex that houses the Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, the Westminster Business School and the Policy Studies Institute. Inside are modern lecture halls, design studios, computer labs, a student centre and public exhibition space including the Ambika P3 Gallery, with Regent's Park and local cafés close at hand.
The university's work spans business, architecture, media and science, backed by accreditations including BCS, CIOB, RICS and AMBA. It holds triple global accreditation, runs respected research centres and serves a community of over 21,000 undergraduates and postgraduates. Its standing shows in rankings such as top UK placements in Communication and Media Studies and Art and Design, and in the Queen's Award for Enterprise. Everything is delivered from a well-connected Marylebone location, with facilities open early and late to support both academic and professional work.
