Marylebone Christmas Market and Lights 2026, Dates and Times

5 November 2026|By Marylebone London Editorial Desk|9 min read
9 min read

The Marylebone Christmas market for 2026 lasts one afternoon. On Wednesday 11 November, from 3pm to 8pm, Merry Marylebone puts food and gift stalls along Marylebone High Street and Paddington Street, with a Ferris wheel and Santa's grotto by Marylebone Church Gardens. At 6pm the Christmas lights go on above a stage on Devonshire Street.

The Howard de Walden Estate, whose freehold covers much of the High Street, runs the evening and publishes the programme on its Marylebone Village site. No chalet market stays on through December.

What follows the switch-on is smaller and scattered. Monocle holds a 2-day market at its Midori House headquarters on 12 and 13 December, while the Sunday farmers' market, the one fixture that runs every week, has moved out of the car park most guides still name. Every date below comes from the organisers' own pages, read on 4 November 2026. Where a 2026 detail has not been published, we say so and give last year's.

When the Marylebone Christmas market and lights switch-on happen in 2026

Merry Marylebone, the Marylebone Christmas market and Christmas lights switch-on, takes place on Wednesday 11 November 2026 from 3pm to 8pm. The Marylebone Village programme puts the switch-on at 6pm on Devonshire Street, led by a celebrity guest not yet named, with BBC broadcaster Jo Good hosting live performances there from 3pm to 6.30pm.

That page prints no year. 11 November falls on a Wednesday in 2026, though, and Time Out's list of 2026 switch-on dates, published on 4 November, gives the same Wednesday and the same 6pm.

Last year's Marylebone Christmas market ran on Wednesday 12 November 2025, also from 3pm to 8pm, according to Secret London's report of the Estate's announcement. A Wednesday in the second week of November with the Marylebone Christmas lights at 6pm: the pattern has held.

Evelina London Children's Charity, part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, receives the 2026 proceeds of the tombola and the workshops. In 2025 the money went to The Marylebone Project, which supports homeless women. Nothing in the programme suggests a charge to walk the street; only the tombola costs money, plus 3 workshops that need booking.

Stalls run through W1U, and the Devonshire Street stage sits in W1G, both inside the City of Westminster at the northern edge of the West End. For presents rather than dates, our Christmas shopping guide to Marylebone covers the shops themselves.

Marylebone's Christmas market is one afternoon long: Wednesday 11 November 2026, 3pm to 8pm, with the lights on at 6pm.

Fun fact: the Howard de Walden Estate says its Christmas lights are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles and use 95% less energy than conventional lighting.

What is on the High Street on 11 November

Here is the programme for the Marylebone Christmas market as published on 4 November 2026.

  • Food and drink. 19 entries, mostly on the High Street or Paddington Street. Mulled wine from 28-50 Wine Workshop and Kitchen, Caldesi and Fischer's, churros con chocolate from Churros Garcia, a hog roast or barbecued short rib from The Ginger Pig, a matcha cart from Jenki, and 3 Winter Warmers stalls outside Church Gardens with a chocolate tap.
  • Gifts. 9 stalls, among them vintage brooches from Audra's Brooches, handbags made from rescued denim by Cydsline and alpaca knitwear from Lacorine, 5 of them on Paddington Street.
  • Rides. A Ferris wheel near Marylebone Church Gardens and a carousel at the corner of Marylebone High Street and Beaumont Mews.
  • Santa's grotto. In Marylebone Church Gardens, last entry 7pm, or earlier if the queue reaches capacity.
  • Workshops. Outside 24 Nottingham Street, booked through Eventbrite. Wreath making with The Flower Appreciation Society at £45, candle painting and embossed metal ornaments with Cult Milk at £15 each.
  • Shops. 9 in-store offers, including 20% off at David Mellor on the day, tastings at Lina Stores from 3pm to 8pm and 10% off chocolates at Rococo Chocolates.
  • Tombola. At the Howard de Walden information tent outside 52 Marylebone High Street, opposite Jacadi, from 3pm until 8pm or until sold out. Event maps are handed out there too.

Expect a crush at 6pm. Stewards assess capacity near the stage between 5pm and 5.30pm, may restrict access and will use a diversion route if needed. Toilets are in Marylebone Church Gardens; first aid and lost property sit behind the stage.

Marylebone Christmas lights against the West End switch-ons

Marylebone switches on in the middle of a crowded week. Time Out's 2026 list gives Regent Street on Thursday 5 November and Oxford Street on Monday 9 November, then Marylebone Village on Wednesday 11 November at 6pm, with Bond Street following on Thursday 12 November at 7pm, so 4 of the West End's main displays light up in the space of 8 days.

What happens on the night differs more than the dates do. Oxford Street's lights carry a Harry Potter theme this year to mark the new television series, according to Time Out on 3 November, and the Oxford Street site describes a Harry Potter Christmas tree in Hanover Square. Bond Street's 93,000 LEDs are arranged once again in a design based on the Crown Jewels.

Oxford Street and Bond Street are displays to walk under.

The Marylebone Christmas market is a street event first. Stalls and rides run for 3 hours before the lights and 2 hours after. A Wednesday switch-on with a grotto taking its last visitors at 7pm is plainly built for families who live within walking distance, and in 2026 the money goes to a children's charity.

Neither of the closest neighbours has published a 2026 plan. St Christopher's Place, the pedestrian enclave between Wigmore Street and Oxford Street, carried no Christmas information on its own site on 4 November 2026; its home page listed a Thanksgiving item instead. We found no 2026 announcement for Baker Street's lights either. Check both again in the week of 9 November.

Christmas markets in Marylebone in December 2026

After 11 November, Marylebone's Christmas markets are short and spread out. The Monocle Christmas Market returns to Midori House on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 December, Trunk lists a Chiltern Street Christmas shopping day on Saturday 5 December, and Marylebone Farmers' Market trades every Sunday from 10am to 2pm.

Monocle's events page, read on 4 November 2026, gives the London dates and the venue but not yet the hours. In 2025 its market ran on 13 and 14 December from 10am to 6pm in the Midori House courtyard, according to Time Out, with real reindeer and stalls from brands including Sunspel and Pophams. Midori House, Monocle's headquarters, stands by Paddington Street Gardens. Neither source mentions an entry charge.

Trunk's events page lists its Chiltern Street Christmas Shopping Event for Saturday 5 December, from 12pm to 6pm, with a roaming choir and a brass band on the street and mince pies with sparkling wine in the shop. No year is printed. 5 December falls on a Saturday in 2026, so confirm before travelling. Our page on the shops of Chiltern Street describes the street the rest of the year.

None of these is a Christmas market in the continental sense, with stalls trading daily through December. In Marylebone the nearest thing to a weekly Marylebone Christmas market is the farmers' market. Its address has changed.

The farmers' market is no longer in the Cramer Street car park

Many guides, including older pages on this site, still send readers to the Cramer Street car park behind Waitrose.

London Farmers' Markets, which runs the Sunday market, now gives the address as St Vincent Street and Aybrook Street, W1U 4DF.

Stalls also continue along the top of Moxon Street. The car park itself has gone: in November 2023 Ian Smith, a director of London Farmers' Markets, said the market's future had been uncertain while "developers built on our former home in the old car park", and credited community support and the City of Westminster with keeping it on the street. According to the organiser, the market was established in June 2003.

For anyone looking for a Marylebone Christmas market that repeats, Marylebone Farmers' Market is it. Its operator's page lists 75 producers, read on 4 November 2026, and names turkeys among its December produce; Castlemead Poultry is on the producer list. Sundays before Christmas in 2026 fall on 6, 13 and 20 December.

27 December is a Sunday too. No Christmas or New Year closures are published, so check with the organiser before planning around it. For a Christmas order, approach the poultry and meat producers on an early December Sunday, since the page gives no ordering details of its own.

A short walk for the switch-on evening

Start at Baker Street station and walk south down Baker Street to Paddington Street.

Paddington Street runs east to Marylebone High Street, and on 11 November it holds the churros of Churros Garcia among several food stalls, plus 5 of the 9 gift stalls, while Dorset Street and Midori House lie a block to the south. At the High Street, turn north towards Marylebone Church Gardens for the grotto and the Ferris wheel, then continue to Devonshire Street. If the switch-on is the point of the visit, be near the stage before 5pm, when the capacity check starts.

After 6pm, walk back down the High Street past the carousel at Beaumont Mews and the information tent at number 52. Nottingham Street, for the workshops, opens off the east side. Further south, cut across to Marylebone Lane, where Tracey Neuls is launching a dress that evening, and follow it down to Wigmore Street.

From there, cross Wigmore Street into St Christopher's Place and follow its passages south to Oxford Street and Bond Street station. Regent's Park station, on Marylebone Road, is the other exit for anyone finishing at the Devonshire Street end.

For the Marylebone Christmas market and lights in 2026, keep Wednesday 11 November free, from 3pm to 8pm, with the switch-on at 6pm on Devonshire Street. Arrive by 4pm to see the stalls in daylight and reach the stage before the capacity check at 5pm.

Come in through Baker Street station and Paddington Street; leave after the lights by walking south through Marylebone Lane and St Christopher's Place to Bond Street station. Book the wreath workshop now if you want a place. For December, add the Monocle Christmas Market on 12 and 13 December, and the Sunday farmers' market on St Vincent Street and Aybrook Street.
