Cavendish Mews South is a small, L-shaped cobbled cul-de-sac entered through an archway on Hallam Street in eastern Marylebone (postcode W1W), directly south of its counterpart Cavendish Mews North. It contains only three properties, all two-storey yellow stock-brick buildings that retain original window and door openings, making it one of the more unaltered mews pockets in this part of Westminster. The street was built to provide stable accommodation for the Portland Place townhouses of the Howard de Walden Estate. Conservation Area controls now govern any alterations, after two of the original properties were demolished and rebuilt in the early 2000s.
