Romney Mews is a small gated cul-de-sac off Chiltern Street in W1U, within the Portman Estate Conservation Area. It contains just two properties and is closed to the public. The mews stands on the site of an original stable yard but has been substantially redeveloped and retains no surviving historic mews structures. A high-explosive bomb fell at the far end of Chiltern Street during the Second World War, and the surrounding area shows the uneven post-war rebuilding typical of this part of Marylebone. Given its gated status and small number of properties, it remains one of the quieter and less documented lanes on the estate.
